New Business
Spring Fundraisers
A survey was given to the parents to find out if there was more interest in a cookbook or cookie fundraiser. The results were 75 people for the cookies and 69 people for the cookbook. The fundraiser for this year will be baked goods. Mrs. Caspersen provided a butter bread loaf to sample at the meeting. This would be an option in lieu of cookies. There was a concern that spring time is when girl scout cookies are being sold. The bread would allow people something other than cookies since many people do buy girl scout cookies. The bread was sampled at the meeting and all of those in attendance agreed that it would be a great fundraiser. The final decision between cookies and bread will be made shortly. There will be a letter sent home with the fundraiser chosen explaining the item chosen and what the money earned from the fundraiser will be used for. Since there was a large interest in cookbooks as well this will be an option for a fall fundraiser next year. The PTO will put a form on the website that parents can submit recipes for the cookbook.
Chick-fil-A Dinner Night
Thursday, February 18th from 5-8pm will be the dinner night for the month. The cow will come to the school on Thursday during the parent pick up line to remind the kids of dinner night. A flyer will be sent home a flyer next Tuesday and stickers for the kids on Thursday. The class with the most money spent at Chick-fil-A will win a free nugget tray.
The dinner night on March 18th will be held at Uncle Bear’s.
Jump Rope for Heart
The school will hold the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser on February 12th. More parent volunteers are needed. Those at the meeting were asked to help if possible.
Teacher Dinner
The PTO will provide a dinner for the teachers on March 11th. This is the night the teachers stay late for parent conferences. There was a vote held for the PTO to spend up to $350 at Baci’s for the dinner. Vanessa voted for the money to be spent and Cindy seconded the vote.
Upcoming Activities
AIMS testing will take place April 12-19. The PTO will provide a healthy snack for those kids testing.
Kindergarten Round Up will be held April 22. The PTO will have a table set up with information about the PTO for the parents and kids. There will be a sign up sheet for new volunteers for the 2010-2011 school year.
Field Day will be held April 23. The PTO will help with volunteering at the event and providing a healthy snack for the kids.
The Sock Hop in coming up in April. Mrs. Merrill is in charge of this event. The PTO will provide assistance where needed. More information will be given on what the PTO will do for this event. If the PTO does the food for the Sock Hop an option is hiring a company that comes and grills hamburgers and possibly french fries.
Principals Report
Mrs. Carr was in attendance. She gave a report on the afterschool activities being held (no bake cooking, sewing, and scrapbooking) and said they are going well. In previous meetings the need for new computers in the classrooms has been discussed. An option was presented to buy new computers for the computer lab and give the teachers the computers from the lab. This would allow the PTO to buy multiple computers to run off the one server and save money to provide more computers than if individual computers were purchased. This is an option that will be looked into further.
Reminder
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, March 9th at 6:30 pm.
Adjournment
With there being no other business the meeting was adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
Michelle Robinson, Secretary
